My Great-Grandmother’s Quilt

This quilt was made by my great-grandmother Emma Luella (Morrison) Sheakley sometime between 1890 when my grandmother Neva was born and 1898 when my great-grandmother Emma died.  My grandmother Neva told me that she remembered her mother working on it.

My maternal great-grandparents and their children.

In front, John Wallace Sheakley, Jr., Neva, Emma Luella (Morrison) Sheakley.

In back, Jennie Eva, Myrtle Mae, and Marshall Lee.

This was taken about 1895.

By 1902, Emma, Jennie, and Lee had died of TB.

John W. died in 1914, Myrtle in 1979, and my grandmother Neva in 1986 at the age of 96 ½.
